Sekai Kyusei Kyo's Mission

With the progress of material civilization over a long period of time, humanity has deviated from the Law of the Universe, Gods will, and the Law of Nature, which is the Truth. Compelled by materialism, which denies what it cannot perceive, and egoism that causes it to act according to its own convenience, humankind has gone away from these laws.

Man has become a prisoner of excessive and inappropriate ambition, destroying the balance of the planet, and giving rise to countless problems and sheer unhappiness to mankind as a whole. The calamity arising out of failure to obey natural law can be observed in every sector, of human activity today; the natural environment, health, agriculture, medicine, education, art, politics, and economy, to name a few.

This situation has reached its limit. If we continue to deviate from natural law, humankind will inevitably destroy itself as well as the planet. In 1935, Sekai Kyusei Kyo was founded by Mokichi Okada (1882-1955) with the mission to awaken humanity and warn us of this unfortunate reality.

The very core of its philosophy is to realize an ideal world, a world of truth, virtue, beauty and health, prosperity, and peace, by lightning the grip of materialism and egoism, by teaching humankind the existence of the invisible, by demonstrating that spirit and feeling exist not only within human beings, but also within animals, planets, and all other inorganic substances, and by calling upon humanity to return to the Law of Nature and to live in accordance with the universal principles and Gods will.
The channeling of Johrei, the promotion of Nature Farming, the expansion of Sangetsu flower arrangement, and the development of art activities centering on the MOA museum of art, which we have been practicing, are all based on the Philosophy of Mokichi Okada.

Our mission is to promote the transformation of humanity from its focus on egoism and materialism to an altruistic and spiritual one, leading all people to live in accord with the Law of Nature, establishing a prototype of an ideal world on earth, and giving birth to a true civilization. ( Fig.1)

What Is True “Health” ?

  • WHO (World Health Organization) defines health as “a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” In 1998, however, the WHO Executive Board adopted a resolution which adds new dimensions “spiritual” and “dynamic” to the definition of health, in addition to “physical,” “mental” and “social” well-being .
  • Although the resolution was not adopted, with hardly any substantial discussion, at the World Health Assembly in 1999, it is worth considering why new dimensions “spiritual” and “dynamic” were included in the new definition.
  • It is partly because Western medicine has focused too much on “the physical” and on the quantification and externalization of human conditions. It is expected that importance will be given more and more to “spirituality” worldwide.

World,Family,Individual

If each individual raises his/her spiritual, mental and physical level and expands it to his/her family, the society and the world through dynamic practice of altruistic love, it will lead to the establishment of an ideal world of truth, virtue and beauty as well as health, affluence and harmony.
