Each individual has ancestors. The further along the ancestral line an individual ascends, the more ancestors he/she has until, eventually, the number of ancestors becomes enormous. We could not be born without those innumerable ancestors.
Our founder, Mokichi Okada indicates that each of us consists of all our ancestors. This means that lives and thoughts of these ancestors are continuously inherited into our own soul, mind and body.
Ancestors always watch over their descendants from the spiritual realm, and they expect us to be dedicated to helping people in order to make the world better. If each of us accepts the guidance of our ancestors and strives to dedicate ourselves to helping others, we will share and enjoy with them the Light of the God, and can be guided to eternal happiness.
At the Ancestral Shrine in the Sacred Ground of Atami, ancestors are enshrined through files, not only of members but also many non-members, and a memorial service is respectfully held everyday. If you are interested, please ask at your nearest Johrei Centre.
